Thanks to everyone in helping raise can food to feed the hungry.

My name is J.T. Bunkley, and I am an 11th grade student in the Human Services Academy at Kapolei High School. My Academy teachers have assigned me to execute a project which would benefit the community. I will be graded on this project at the end of my school year.

My project is to organize a skateboard competition that the local skateboarders can participate in while also benefiting the community, and I named it The Can Jam 2010. The location of the skate competition is at the A’ala skate park in Honolulu, near Chinatown on March 13, 2010. I ask that each contender will donate 5 cans of food to participate in the competition. After all of the donations have been collected, it will be donated to the River of Life Mission to help feed the homeless.

I have had a good response from local businesses, such as EX Drinks, Ezekiel, Maui Longboards,
The Top of Waikiki Restaurant, Cholo’s, Oahu Express Shipping, StorSecure Self-Storage,
Hawaiian National Communications Corporation and The Friends of Chinatown. They have
supported me with this endeavor and I am proud to have created this event and help with a
worthy cause.

This competition is a huge under taking, and time is short. This project is very important to me
and the community, in which all of the donations will go to a good cause and to prove that
skateboarders do care about our community and want to help make a difference.

Best regards,
J.T. Bunkley
